First, we would like to share with our CPA members an update on the new/revised Charity Committee and the changes made in 2024.
Spring 2024 a new committee was formed with the task of creating an all-new process for choosing the charities that would be awarded funds from CPA. This committee included Bob Wagner, Paul Hess, Earl Beam, Jim Herbst, Mike McNulty; along with Margery McNulty & Steve Baun as Co-chairs.
The goal was to create an entirely new vetting process, transparency, new mission statement and most important, that the funds/charities would be in CPA Region Territory.
The charity team was 100% committed to this goal. Numerous hours/meetings to design/modify/change the vetting process consumed many hours and a few well engaged meetings to make this right. We were fortunate to have Jim Herbst on the team, as Jim had much experience with a much larger charity, that used a very well-designed vetting process. The team then used this example and modified the vetting process to meet CPA goals.
Year 2024 was a test bed, knowing this is a living document that will require continual tweaking in the upcoming years. We are hoping this awareness will first show the commitment of CPA Region to our local community and at the same time encourage more charities to participate in our program.
