The Steering Wheel
President’s Message from ALAN POZNER, CPA-PCA President
January 2012

Last month I talked of what you can do for your club; this month I speak of what your club can do for you. We have lots of plans for this year and you can read about some of them in this month's minutes. Let me talk about some that are exciting and new.

Expanded Cars + Coffee program - The second Saturday of each month has been the day our traditional Cars and Coffee meeting in Mt Joy.

But here's a great, new idea that member Tim March came up with. The region is big and for many members on the Eastern or Western edges, traveling 1+ hours for breakfast does not seem very appealing. Tim would like us to hold more than one C+C. So we have appointed him the chairman for the Western CPA C+C for folks in the Carlisle and Mechanicsburg area. Paul Hess has volunteered to be chairman of the Eastern CPA C+C.

If you wish to come to Cars + Coffee to shoot the breeze with fellow Porsche owners but have dreaded the long drive this program is for you. Drop me an email at alanpozner@gmail.com and I will see that you are kept informed about this new program.

Also we have curtailed the Mt Joy meetings during the winter months. But this year the membership cried out for winter Cars and Coffees. So starting January we will have this event every month in three locations!

PA Renaissance Faire Porsche Only Concours - Member Don Moore has been working with PA Renaissance Faire and Mt Hope Winery to hold a charity concours event on May 20th at the Faire grounds. This is a new event for us and could become a huge annual event. Other regions are already interested in attending.

We could surely use your support and attendance. Please contact Don as he really needs to gauge your interest. His email address is dmoorehome@windstream.net

Professional Autocross School - This year we want to step up the skills of our autocrossers so that we win the next Porsche-Corvette challenge. To accomplish this I have engaged the best professional autocross school in the country to come to Hershey and put on a custom school for us.

The date for the school will be May 6th and is limited to 24 seats. This school is designed for anyone with a few autocrosses under their belt. The instructors work hard to tailor their instruction to fit your skillset. These schools can be pricey, so I negotiated a better price and have agreement of the club to subsidize any shortfall.

NY Auto Show Bustrip - Once again Director Al Pienhardt has arranged for a bus trip to the NY auto show. The date is April 7th.

Revised ByLaws - By the time you read this, a copy of the new by laws should be in your hands as well as a ballot to approve them. Ian Taggart, Tony Miller and Steve Limbert worked for a year to make the revisions necessary to make them unambiguous and legal. Please support their tireless effort by returning your ballot promptly.
