![]() Is it October already? Yes, and it is a great time to be living in Central PA. Not only will the fall foliage soon be upon us, but also there are plenty of car things to do before the winter months arrive.
Cars & Coffee, the monthly gathering of CPA members to have breakfast and talk about whatever we like with no agenda, is on the 11th. Join us at Gus’s Keystone Restaurant in Mt. Joy for fun and good conversation. That is also the date of the AACA Eastern Fall Meet in Hershey. Since I will be showing the 356 there, I will have to miss Cars & Coffee, but I am hoping those who are at Gus’s will drive to Hershey after breakfast. The show is free, but there is a fee to park your car, which is in a grassy field, so you may want to consider a non P-car for the trip. At Hershey you will find about 1,200 cars, trucks and motorcycles on the show field representing all years and models. Should you be able to get there earlier in the week, there is the World’s Largest Automotive Flee Market (Swap Meet) which fills all of the Hersheypark and Giant Center parking lots, plus add ional fields. There are not many Porsche related items there, but the occasional treasure can be found.
For those who are interested in a little road trip, the International Gold Cup is on the 18th, in The Plains, VA. Porsche Cars North America is the primary sponsor and there will be plenty of vintage and new Porsches to see.
Unfortunately, October 19th is our final autocross of the year. It would be great if we could have more events in our Autocross Series as everyone who participates has a great time. Plus, there is no safer or better venue to learn the handling characteristics of your Porsche. Every member should try it at least once. Instructors and helmets are available. Come on out and see for yourself why this is the most popular activity in CPA-PCA.
If you want to learn more about performance tires, the folks from Yokohama will be at Sun Motor Cars Porsche to talk about their Advan performance tires on the 25th. See this issue for details.
Get out and drive them. Eric |
