Opening: President Henry McQueen called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. A few new members and visitors were present, so all individuals shared a round of introductions. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.
Minutes: Barb Taggart made a motion to accept the minutes from the August 7, 2007, meeting. John Witmer seconded the motion and the board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart stated that we have been accepted into the PA Invest program. She has also established a new banking account with Wachovia Bank. Copies of the treasurer’s statement were available for examination. Deny Gilbert motioned to accept the report. Don Hollway seconded the motion. The board approved.
Membership: Rick Geiner shared the monthly statistics. Our current total is 394 members.
Website/Newsletter: Don Hollway reported that all is well in this area. He asked John Witmer to photograph the golf event. He also stated that a final email blast will be sent to the membership to remind them about the crab feast, and that the deadline to sign up will be Friday, September 7. Material for the October newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, September 11.
Social: Al Peinhardt shared that everything is ready for the crab feast. He asked for volunteers to help set up the site. Oktoberfest at the Liederkranz is scheduled for the weekend following the crab fest. Raffle tickets for cash prizes were distributed, courtesy of Al. Prescott Kelly will be unable to attend the holiday party. However, the treasurer from PCA National has accepted the invitation.
Jerry Trone stated that there will be an open house at PCA national on September 23. He also introduced Ken Bullough, the tourmaster of PCA Chesapeake region. Ken shared some of the events that he has been promoting. He and Jerry are both preparing for the Gold Cup on October 20. There will be a club race at Summit Point the weekend of October 5. Beginning September 14, is the 38th Chesapeake Challenge. This three day event will include a rally, a wash ‘n shine, and an autocross. Don Hollway will add a link from our website to Chesapeake’s site where more detailed information is available about their upcoming events.
Tech: Jon Yetter was absent, due to his opportunity to be in Germany and to drive a GT3 on the test track. There is information in the newsletter about the tech session at CBRD Speedfactory on October 6, 2007.
Safety: Paul Hess has the insurance certificates for upcoming events. He also stated that the ten pound fire extinguishers are ordered and should arrive in time for the September autocross. There are a few of the twenty pounders for sale. Contact Paul if you are interested. Autocross: Deny Gilbert is on the mend after his recent surgery. Everything is set for the fall autocrosses. Deny will need help with the set up and tearing down of the course. He also showed a sample of the trophies that will be used for the events.
Henry has a friend who is willing to check and repair the cables for the timing equipment. John Witmer motioned that the club allot up to $500 for the cable repair. Barb Taggart seconded the motion and the board approved.
Driver Education: Justin Fried was unable to attend. Upcoming September and October events are detailed on the website and in the newsletter. Contact Justin if you need more information.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun was absent. He relayed that he now has a map of the new layout for the venue.
Nominations: Joe Rausa presented the following nominations from the committee for the 2008 board of directors: Directors- Jerry Trone, Steve Limbert, Rick Geiner, and Max Crawford; President- Eric Wahlberg; Vice-President- Dave Whitney; Treasurer- Barb Taggart; Secretary- Linda Horstick. Nominations from the membership will be accepted at or before the October meeting, as outlined in the bylaws.
Vice-President: Eric Wahlberg shared information about the 356 Registry events in September 2008, which will be in the Lancaster area.
Calendar: Steve Limbert said that there will be vintage racing at some point in 2008. The German air-cooled swap meet will be at Ski Roundtop on September 22. Jerry Trone shared that the next Porsches at Pimlico will be June 1, 2008, and the polo event is planned for July 20, 2008.
