Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Henry McQueen at 7:00 PM. One new member was present. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.
Minutes: John Witmer motioned that the minutes of the July 3, 2007, should be accepted and it was seconded by Barb Taggart. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart distributed a written treasurer’s report for examination. A motion was made to accept the report. It was seconded and approved by the Board. Barb also expressed that she would like to change our account from M&T to Wachovia, mainly for convenience. There was no objection from the members present.
Membership: Rick Geiner was absent. He did message that we have a total of 390 members, including nine new members, one transfer in, one transfer out, and several non-renewals. He will be contacting these members to remind them of their renewals.
Website/Newsletter: Don Hollway reported that he has plenty of material for the September newsletter. The deadline for the next issue will be August 14, 2007.
Social: Al Peinhardt reported that preparations for the Crab Feast are on schedule. An email blast will be sent to the membership to emphasize that the date had been changed to September 9. Al also stated that the Liederkranz offered us the use of a downstairs room where we would have less distraction for our meetings. The members present were in favor of holding our monthly meetings in the new location.
Jerry Trone reviewed the polo event. He also shared the planning guide that he had developed. John Witmer volunteered to create a template and to administrate the use of guides for all of our activities. Information that should be included in the guide was discussed. Jerry Trone made a motion to initiate the use of planning guides for all of our events by all chairpersons. John Witmer seconded the motion. The Board approved.
Tech: Jon Yetter was absent. Don Hollway suggested holding a tech session at CBRD (Chad Block Racing Development). He will be contacting Jon.
Safety: Paul Hess shared that all insurance certificates are ready for the September events. Autocross: Deny Gilbert reported that he has selected the trophies for the autocrosses. He also announced that next year’s New York wine tour will be on July 12. He also reserved August 3 for the Wash ’n’ Shine Concours at his home.
Barb Taggart made a motion to reimburse the Gilberts and the Witmers for expenses that were incurred at the concours. Paul Hess seconded the motion. The Board approved.
Driver Education: Justin Fried was absent. He did message that there is an event at Pocono in September and another at Watkins Glen in October. More details will be available in the newsletter or by contacting Justin.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun was absent. Concerns were expressed about the swap worker’s party not being held shortly after the event. Henry will inquire to determine if anything has been planned. Another member shared that he has belonged to another organization that prepares chairperson’s planning guides for that group’s activities. He suggested that this might be an option for our club to consider. Their guides contain the information that would be needed by a successor to proceed with activities and events if a leader would be unable to continue with their duties.
Vice-President: Eric Wahlberg was absent.
Old Business: Favorable comments were shared about our website clothing store.
New Business: John Witmer shared that the Celebration 4 Life golf tournament will be held on September 9 at the Four Seasons Golf Course. He has a few complimentary passes available for members to participate. An email blast will be sent to the members with event details. Anyone interested in the passes should call John.
