Secretary Report for August 2, 2005
Deb Conn , Secretary
Opening: The meeting was called to order by Vice President Steve Baun in the absence of vacationing President Stauffer. A motion to approve the July minutes as written was approved by the Board.
Treasurer: Henry McQueenExpenses for the year are good. Discussion was held on the money made from the 2005 Hershey Porsche Parade Swap Meet. Some members feel that Central PA is entitled to a portion of the amount. Steve is going to contact Co-Chair of the Parade, Manny Alban for some clarification of the matter.
Membership: Jerry Reinhardt has resigned as Membership Chair and has moved from the area for a job opportunity. Rick Geiner has agreed to step into this position and all the computer data info will be transferred to him. Total membership as of July 2005 is 407.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollwaychecked on color for front and back covers of the der Sprecher and it was very expensive. The Board decided we will stay with the black and white format.
Social: Ed Eisenhart, Al Peinhardt, and Jerry TroneCrab Feast, Sunday, October 9, 2005. Need to define time for event. Holiday party planning almost complete.
Tech: Scott Hoaglundabsent - No Report
Autocross: Mark BoltNo Report. Looking for a volunteer for this position for next year.
Swap Meet Steve BaunThanked everyone for their help with the Parade Swap Meet. Much different than an April event. Very, very hot, different type vendors and the crowd seemed smaller.
Don Hassenbein spoke on the possibility of changing the date of the April 2006 Swap Meet to a May weekend for maybe better weather, etc. Steve explained that we are already locked in with Hershey for next year. And if we leave this venue where do we go and continue to get the crowd/vendors? The Swap Meet has always been held at the end of April and succeeded very well.
Old business: A discussion on the raffle of tires from the Swap Meet was held. It seems that the winner of the tires didnŐt receive them in a timely fashion (after numerous phone calls and messages) and they were re-raffled at the Parade Swap. The second winner had them mounted on his car. The first winner threatened to file a claim in Small Claims Court against the club for lack of merchandise and or a payment of $777.96. The Board agreed to offer the first winner 30 days to pick up a set of tires at a designated dealer worth a credit of $777.96. If not picked up in 30 days the offer is void.
New business: Don Hassenbein suggested name tags be made for all the club members with their name, car, and when they joined the club. These would be worn to events to make it easier to talk with people and get to know one another. He passed around a few examples. Steve said that name tags have been tried in the past and people seemed to forget them or just were not interested. Don is to work on a trial sample and bring to the next Board meeting.
Next meeting: September 6, 2005 at Liederkranz, 6:30pm for social, meeting at 7:00pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Deb Conn, Secretary
