Secretary Report for July 11, 2006

Opening: The meeting was called to order by Vice President Henry McQueen at 7:04 pm. Max Crawford, a new member from Silver Spring (Lancaster area) introduced himself. He drives a 2001 Boxster and is interested in participating in future events.
Barb Taggart motioned and John Witmer seconded to approve the minutes from the June 6, 2006 Board meeting. The Board approved.

Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that the treasury is in good condition. Contact Barb if you would like a more detailed account. Expenses are running ahead of last year due to additional Swap Meet expenses and the purchase of the new club trailer.

Rally: Barb reported that the gimmick rally to be held August 13, is set and ready to go. Event insurance has been taken care of. Attendees should arrive by 12:30 pm at the Salunga Exit off of Route 283.

Safety: Denny Gilbert reported that he has the insurance for the rally is all set.
Denny and Liz have everything set for the Concours at their home August 6. Denny stated that beverages will be provided and that the group will go to a local restaurant for dinner following the concours. There was discussion regarding prizes for the concours and John Witmer presented a motion that the club allocate a $75.00 budget for bottles of wine for prizes. Barb Taggart seconded the motion and the motion passed. Al Peinhardt will procure the wine.

Membership: Rick Geiner reported that we have a total of 409 members. Rick has been doing CPA updates on the PCA National web site and mentioned that members can update their profiles with National if they have a user name and password.
The new recruitment folders and holders will be distributed to the Porsche dealers and independent shops in the region.

Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway needs autocross articles and results for the previously run events. He will contact Mark Bolt regarding this matter. The deadline for articles and submissions is July 14.

Social: Al Peinhardt reported that he has already been in contact with the vendor who supplies the crabs and shrimp for the Crab Feast in September. He will also procure wine for the Polo Event and Concours. There was a motion by Al Peinhardt to purchase 288 wine glasses for the Holiday Party and other future events. The motion was seconded by Jerry Trone and approved by the board.
Jerry Trone had samples of the wine bottle labels for the Polo event that Bob Purgason prepared. Everyone agreed they look great.

Tech: Jon Yetter was not in attendance but he is still working on getting a Saturday date after October to visit the TPC race shop in Maryland.

Autocross: Mark Bolt reported that the first Gary Wigglesworth Award for the fastest CPA member driven Porsche at the April Swap autocross was won by Michael Seminera. The next autocross is May 14.
The new autocross trailer looks great and Mark will be leading a group to build a box in the trailer to hold the new fire extinguishers. The board has allocated him $200.00 for materials to build shelves and racks for the trailer.
We still need to address the radio problem. We cannot borrow the SCCA radios for every event. John Witmer will check with someone he knows about repairing our Motorola radios. The board can then weigh the cost of repair versus replacement.
Henry McQueen raised the question about resurrecting the Porsche/Corvette Challenge autocross. Also, he asked if anyone knows who has the trophy from the last challenge?


Driver Ed: Steve Baun was not in attendance. Contact Steve if you need information about the upcoming events at Pocono in August and Watkins Glen in September.

Swap Meet: Henry McQueen spoke with Steve Baun and the paving of the new lot at Hershey Park is running behind schedule. Thus, we will be using the same lots as the past few years for the 2007 Swap Meet.
The Swap Worker's Party will be Saturday evening July 22 at the Giant Center.

Vice President: Henry McQueen had no comments.

New business:John Witmer will get costs for new light weight folding tables to be carried in the trailers.
Henry McQueen mentioned that it is time to begin planning for the 2007 slate of officers. If anyone is interested in serving on the board or as a director next year they should contact Kurt Stauffer. Nominations will be announced at the September meeting.
Denny Gilbert asked if we could get weiswurst instead of bratwurst for food at the meetings?

Next meeting: August 1, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social (brats and beverages), meeting at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend.
