Secretary Report for June 6, 2006

Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Steve Baun at 7:00 pm.
Barb Taggart motioned and Mark Bolt seconded to approve the minutes from the May 2, 2006 Board meeting. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that the treasury is in good condition. Contact Barb if you would like a more detailed account. Denny Gilbert moved to accept the Treasurers report and Don Hollway seconded. The Board approved the report.
Rally Barb and Ken Taggart will organize a gimmick rally to be held August 13. This rally will have easy to follow directions. Attendees should arrive by 12:30 pm with the first car off at 1:00 pm. The board approved a $200.00 budget for this event.
Safety: Denny Gilbert reported that he has the insurance forms for the June 9 & 11 autocrosses. Denny and Liz will host a wash and shine concours at their home on August 6. Details to follow.
Membership: Rick Geiner was not in attendance, however he reported to Steve Baun that we now have 411 members.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway reported that the Friday June 9, autocross is at 7:30 pm not 5:00 pm as previously printed in der Sprecher. He will correct this information on the website. The deadline for articles and submissions is June 13.
Social: Jerry Trone reported on the Porsches at Pimlico event which went very well with about 13 cars and 26 attendees. Next year we may want to have this event on the first Saturday in May, which will be Kentucky Derby Day at Pimlico.
For the upcoming Polo Event the Board has approved CPA-PCA to sponsor the MVP awards. The two legged award to the MVP rider will be a case of wine with bottles bearing labels with the CPA logo designed by Bob Purgason. The MVP horse, four legged MVP, will receive a bridal with an attached MVP plaque.
Al Peinhardt reported that the Hershey Hillclimb hospitality tent went quite well and everyone had a great time. The touring runs the club got to take were a highlight of the event. Eric Wahlberg reported that since the hillclimb he has received many thank you comments from the 356 community and other PCA regions who attended.
The annual Crab Feast will be September 10 at the Lancaster Liederkranz. Also, Al would like to have members show their Porsches at the Lancaster Liederkranz Oktoberfest.
Tech: Jon Yetter will try to get a Saturday date after October to visit the TPC race shop in Maryland.
Autocross: Mark Bolt has yet to order the Gary Wigglesworth Award plaque. This will be a perpetual award.
Setup for the Friday night June 9, autocross will begin at 6:30 pm.
The club radios are still a problem as four of the eight we own are currently working. Mark will look into the cost of repairs and cost of new radios. For the autocrosses on June 9 & 11 the club has been able to borrow radios from the SCCA.
We still have to swap over equipment to the new autocross trailer. Mark is organizing this.
Driver Education: Steve Baun reported that the DE event at Watkins Glen was a good time had by all with a lot of track time. Future events are July 24-25 at Watkins Glen, August at Watkins Glen and Pocono and September at Watkins Glen. Steve urged anyone who is interested in learning about the handling characteristics of their car to attend these events.
Swap Meet: The next swap committee meeting for the 2007 Swap will be after the August 1 meeting. Steve Baun reported that the paving of the new lots behind the Giant Center has been approved.
The Swap Workers Party will be Saturday evening July 22 at the Giant Center.
Vice President:Henry McQueen mentioned that the first Tuesday in July is the 4th. It was decided that the July meeting will be held on the 11th.
Artistry In Motion 2007, a vintage grand tour and car show to benefit the Lancaster Museum of Art, will be held Saturday May 6, 2007. Porsche is the featured marque and there are plans to have a CPA hospitality tent at this event.
Henry gave a Hats Off to Don Hollway on the publication of his novel. After a round of applause, Barb Taggart produced a stack of Dons books, Dangerous Game and we had a book signing party with our favorite author. If you got a book from Barb, please remember to pay her.
New business:Steve checked with Don Hasselbien regarding having swap vendor labels printed which can be placed on the swap spaces prior to the vendors arriving. Don can get the Hershey Region AACA to print the for us for about $170.00.
Al Peinhardt was given the go ahead to once again order wine glasses for the Holiday Party.
Next meeting: July 11, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social (brats and beverages), meeting at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend.
