June 3, 2008 Opening: President Eric Wahlberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All that attended shared a round of introductions. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present. Minutes: The May meeting minutes were available in the newsletter. Ken Taggart made a motion to accept the minutes from the May 6, 2008, meeting. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved. Treasurer: Barb Taggart shared a written statement of the financial activities for the month. Everything is in good shape. Membership: Rick Geiner was unable to attend. Eric stated that our latest membership total is 378. Website/Newsletter: Don Hollway was unable to attend. He was in contact with Eric and asked for a volunteer to take photos of the June autocross. Dave Whitney accepted that job. Material for the June newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, June 10. Social: Eric read correspondence from Bob Purgason, providing more details about the itinerary for the Virginia getaway in September. The deadline for making reservations is June 16. Eric extended an invitation to all to come to the Cars and Coffee informal breakfast gatherings on the second Saturday of each month. Jerry Trone reviewed Porsches at Pimlico. Approximately forty people from six regions attended the event. He also encouraged all to participate in the upcoming Polo Cup on July 27 and the MS Polo Match on August 9. Deny Gilbert outlined his plans for the July 12 Finger Lakes Tour. He also stated that the August Millbach Concours has been cancelled for 2008. John Witmer was unable to attend, but had talked with Eric about plans for the Holiday Party. He will be interviewing a few caterers later in the summer.
Tech: Jon Yetter was unable to attend the meeting and there was no report. There is a tech session scheduled for July 26 at Translog. Safety: Paul Hess has applied for insurance coverage for this weekend's autocross, but has not received the certificate yet. He has followed up on it numerous times. Autocross: Deny Gilbert reviewed the May autocross and projected that the June course will be similar but faster. No autocross dates have been scheduled at Sun Motors. It was suggested that a DE event be planned there. Driver Education: Max Crawford shared highlights of the recent DE event at Watkins Glen. More details about upcoming track events can be found on the website. Swap Meet: Steve Baun was unable to attend the meeting. The Swap Worker's Party was held on May 17 at the Coliseum in Mechanicsburg. The attendees had a great time. Region Events Planning Manual: In progress. VP Report: Dave Whitney will photograph the autocross. Calendar: Eric added that the York County Heritage Trust will present the annual Concours d'Elegance on July 19 at The York College of Pennsylvania. He also said that 554 people have registered to attend the 356 East Coast Holiday (September, 2008). There will be more than 270 cars. New Business: Eric spoke about plans for Zone 2 to create an LLC between our regions. The intent is to enable us to plan activities that might not be possible as individual regions. The consensus was that we table the discussion until we have more information. Steve Limbert suggested that we invite Jim Becker, the Zone 2 representative, to address our questions and concerns. Next Meeting: Tuesday July 1, 2008, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:00 PM for social, and meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend these meetings.
