Secretary Report for May 2, 2006
Eric Wahlberg , Secretary
(Unofficial minutessubject to E-Board
additions and/or corrections and approval)
Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Steve Baun at 7:00 pm.
Steve gave a huge thank you to all of the CPA members who volunteered to work at the Swap Meet, particularly in the weather conditions we had.
Barb Taggart motioned and Don Hollway seconded to approve the minutes from the April 4, 2006 Board meeting. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that the treasury is in good condition. Contact Barb if you would like a more detailed account. The final accounting is not in from the Swap Meet, but it appears that despite having fewer vendors, the net profit is only about $1,000.00 less than in 2005. Jerry Trone moved to accept the Treasurers report and John Witmer seconded. The Board approved the report.
Membership: Rick Geiner reported that we have a total of 409 members. Rick has been doing CPA updates on the PCA National web site and mentioned that members can update their profiles with National if they have a user name and password.
The new recruitment folders and holders will be distributed to the Porsche dealers and independent shops in the region.
Safety: Denny Gilbert reported that he needs to submit the necessary forms to PCA National at least three weeks prior to an event. It is the individual event chairŐs responsibility to be certain this is done.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway reported that our printer has a new machine that saves the region approximately 25% of our printing costs. Don needs articles about the Swap Meet for the next issue. The deadline for articles and submissions is May 9.
Social: Al Peinhardt reported that the food for the CPA hospitality tent at the Hershey Vintage Hillclimb will arrive by 11:00 am.
John Witmer reported that Celebration For Life collected $765.00 at the Swap. Once again Celebration For Life is having the Tee Off for Tom: Tom McCarty Memorial Golf Tournament at Four Seasons Golf Club in East Hempfield. Henry McQueen made a motion for Central Pennsylvania Region to sponsor a hole at this tournament, which costs $200.00. Jerry Trone seconded the motion and it was approved.
Jerry Trone reported that he is expecting over 28 people to attend Porsches at Pimlico.
Tech: Jon Yetter was absent, but Steve Baun said that Jon is working on a future tech session at a race shop.
Autocross: Mark Bolt reported that the first Gary Wigglesworth Award for the fastest CPA member driven Porsche at the April Swap autocross was won by Michael Seminera. The next autocross is May 14.
The new autocross trailer looks great and Mark will be leading a group to build a box in the trailer to hold the new fire extinguishers. The board has allocated him $200.00 for materials to build shelves and racks for the trailer.
Driver Ed: Barb Taggart will send an email blast reminding the membership about the May 14 autocross and drivers school.
Steve Baun reported that the DE event at Watkins Glen has 100 drivers registered and the event is closed
Swap Meet: Steve Baun again thanked all who braved the elements to work at the Swap Meet. There are some leftover 30th Anniversary commemorative models. And ad for the remaining inventory will be put in der Sprecher and on the web site. Steve will investigate where and how to get the printed vinyl labels that the AACA uses to mark there swap vendor spaces. Steve will check on a Saturday date in July for the Swap Workers Party.
Eric Wahlberg reported that despite the weather we had twenty two cars entered in the Peoples Choice Concours. More remarkable was that nine of them were 356s. Had it not rained, Eric predicted we would have had at least eight or nine more 356s entered. For 2007 the featured models will be the 1965 - 1973 911 and 912. John Witmer volunteered to contact the Early 911 Registry to solicit entrants.
Vice President: Henry McQueen reported that the vendor for embroidered club merchandise has been going through growing pains. Extra hats and T-shirts from the Swap are available for purchase. Joe Rausa displayed his newly painted helmet. The paint job was a gift from the region to Joe after his term as President.
Correction, Additions and Deletions to Calendar: Jerry Trone stated that the Porsche Polo Cup event will be on July 23, with a rain date to be determined.
New business:Denny and Liz Gilbert will host a wash and shine concours at their house on August 20. The plan is to begin at 1:00 pm. Denny mentioned that there is a good restaurant near their home where we could go for dinner.
Next meeting: June 6, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social (brats and beverages), meeting at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend.
