May 1, 2007

Opening: Vice-President Eric Wahlberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, because President Henry McQueen was unable to attend the meeting. Three new members were present. All members that were present shared introductions. Sympathy cards were signed for Jim Becker and Barb Taggart, who both lost close relatives. A card was also signed for Dale Heinicker.

Linda Horstick stated that a quorum was not present. Only four executive board members were able to attend the meeting- Vice-President Eric Wahlberg, Secretary Linda Horstick, Directors Al Peinhardt and Rick Geiner.

Minutes: Copies of the minutes were available for review in the newsletter. No additions, deletions, or changes were requested at this time. The minutes from the April meeting stand unapproved at this time.

Treasurer: Ken Taggart delivered a brief report from Barb, stating that our balance is in great shape after the swap meet. There are still a few outstanding bills to be satisfied.

Membership: Rick Geiner reported that our membership is 400, with 2 new members, 3 transfers in, 2 transfers out, 11 renewals, and 11 non-renewals.

Website/Newsletter: Don Hollway stated that swap meet photos and information have been loaded at Steve’s swap meet site. There is another Porsche raffle running this year. The deadline for the June Sprecher is May 8.

Social: Al Peinhardt reported that the tent, sandwiches, and wraps will be at the Hershey Hillclimb on Saturday. There will be water available at the club tent during Artistry in Motion on Sunday. Al also asked to have copies of the newsletter available for potential members. The wine glasses sold quickly at the swap meet. More were available at this meeting.

Jerry Trone reported that the registration deadline for Porsches at Pimlico is May 19th. The cost is $30 per person, which includes a great buffet and unlimited champagne. There is reserved parking available for our cars.

The Jefferson 500 at Summit Point, WV, is May 18-20. This is a vintage racing event. Steve Limbert shared that there is plenty of safe parking there. The 356 Registry has a special parking area.

Deny Gilbert reminded everyone that the deadline to register for the Lake Country wine tasting tour is May 4. Details are available in the newsletter.

Tech: Jon Yetter was absent. However he did email that both he and John Witmer have contacted the Stoner company about coming to present their products at the Crab Feast. We are waiting for their reply.

Safety: Deny Gilbert reported that the insurance certificate is ready for the next autocross on May 13.

Autocross: Deny reported that there were 53 paid entries for the autocross on April 29. He asked for a volunteer to specifically attend to getting all individuals in the area to sign the waiver and to check that all have wrist bands. He also requested a person to ensure that all of the participants take their turns working on the course instead of leaving after they have driven. There were a few suggestions as to how we can be sure that all participants also share the work. The Gary Wigglesworth trophy for the fastest CPA member driving a Porsche at the Swap Autocross should be ready by the end of the week. This year’s recipient will be Joe Rausa. Deny suggested that we limit the event to three runs per registrant, and then offer fun runs afterwards to raise more income.

Driver Education: Justin Fried sent a message that there will be eleven participants from our region at the Watkins Glen May 28-29. This is the biggest turnout we have had for a driver education event.

Swap Meet: Steve Baun was unable to attend the meeting. Eric Wahlberg stated that it was the best swap meet in a long time, and likely the best we ever had. Exact dollar amounts were not available. However the gate income was up 35%, the concourse was up 130%, and the car sale corral was up 75%. $570 was raised at the concourse for the Four Diamonds Fund. The tire raffle was not very profitable with only eighteen tickets purchased. Several members stated that maybe it could have been publicized more through announcements or possibly in an informational handout at the gate. This year’s t-shirts were sold out. Another comment was that it seemed inappropriate to be making charity collections at the same time as the gate fee was being collected.

Vice-President: No additional comments.

Calendar: Steve Limbert said that Rennsport III is scheduled for the first weekend in November 2007 at Daytona.

Old Business: No comments.

New Business: Al Peinhardt suggested that we send a get well wish to Les Tronzo, the owner of Sports Car Tires and a winery. Les is experiencing serious health issues.

Deny Gilbert stated that we need additional supplies for the autocrosses- oil absorbing material, a new torque wrench to replace the broken one, a dust pan, weights for the timing boxes, and plexiglass covers for the boxes to keep them dry if it rains. No authorization for funds could be made at this meeting without the required quorum.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 PM for social, meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend.

Meeting Adjourned: Unofficially, at 8:10 PM

Respectfully Submitted,

Linda Horstick, Secretary
