Secretary Report for April 4, 2006

Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Steve Baun at 7:00 pm.
Steve Baun has been in contact with the national treasurer and the 2005 Parade allocation of profits to the Zone 2 regions will be decided by the Parade Committee after the final accounting.
Discussion followed on having a special award given in Gary WigglesworthÕs memory. Joe Rausa made a motion to present this award at the Swap Autocross, due to GaryÕs long support of the Swap Meet and his past autocross accomplishments. The motion was seconded by John Witmer and passed unanimously.
Don Hollway motioned and Jerry Trone seconded to approve the minutes from the March 7, 2006 Board meeting. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that the treasury is running ahead of last year. Contact Barb if you would like a more detailed account. Jerry Trone moved to accept the TreasurerÕs report and John Witmer seconded. The Board approved the report.
Safety: Denny Gilbert reported that he needs to submit the necessary forms to PCA National at least three weeks prior to an event. It is the individual event chairÕs responsibility to be certain this is done.
Steve Baun informed the membership that the region has purchased eight dry chemical fire extinguishers for the autocrosses. These meet all safety requirements. Jon Yetter suggested having the supplier give a demonstration on proper use of these fire extinguishers before a future autocross.
Membership: Rick Geiner reported that we have one new member, one transfer into the region no transfers out, six non-renewals and one late renewal, for a total of 397 members.
We have the recruitment folders. A special thanks was given to Bob Perguson for his excellent layout work. Henry McQueen is to obtain holders for these brochures to use at events and to be distributed to the Porsche dealers and independent shops in the region.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway reported he needs an article on the Tech Session at Sun Motor Cars for the next issue. Also, the next issue will have a feature article on the new GT-3.
The deadline for articles and submissions is April 11.
Social: There will be a CPA hospitality tent at the Hershey Vintage Hillclimb, May 6, since Porsche is the featured marque. John Witmer will be the point man to coordinate the tent, subs, ice, coolers and beverages. Jon Yetter will get tables and chairs from Sun Motor Cars. Don Hollway will pick up and return the tables and chairs. Al Peinhardt will pickup the subs.
Tech: Jon Yetter reported that the tech session at Sun Motor Cars went well and there were many good questions from those attending. CDOC was pleased with the event as well. Jon is looking for ideas for future Tech Sessions. Please contact Jon if there is something you would like to have as a subject.
Autocross: Mark Bolt was not present. Steve Baun told the members that the new dry chemical fire extinguishers will be delivered in time for the April 23 Swap Autocross.
Discussion followed regarding the need for and purchase of a second club trailer for autocross and club event supplies. Denny Gilbert made a motion to give Al Peinhardt the authority to negotiate up to $2,000.00 for a 6'x12" trailer and Jerry Trone seconded it. The motion was approved.
Driver Ed: Steve Baun reported that fourteen people are signed up for Watkins Glen May 10 & 11. The event is not full yet, but will probably be soon.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun has seen the 30th Anniversary limited edition swap meet model and it looks sharp. These models will be offered for sale to the swap volunteers first.
There will be a Swap Meet Committee meeting tonight following the Board Meeting.
Vice President: Henry McQueen was not present.
New business:Don Hollway presented a motion that the region budget $500.00 for expenses related to the Hershey Vintage Hillclimb hospitality tent. Barb Taggart seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.
Jerry Trone mentioned that the Porsches at Pimlico event announcement should include where to send entry checks and who they are to be made out to. Don Hollway will make certain this is in the next issue of der Sprecher.
Next meeting: May 2, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social (brats and beverages), meeting at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend.
