Opening: President Henry McQueen called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. No new members were present. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.
Minutes: Eric Wahlberg made a motion that the minutes from the March 6, 2007, meeting should be accepted and John Witmer seconded it. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart was unable to attend due to illness. A formal statement was not available, but Henry had conversed with Barb, and shared an informal overview of the club s financial activities.
Membership: Rick Geiner reported that our membership is 403, with eight new members, three transfers in, one transfer out, and twenty-nine renewals.
Newsletter/Website: Don will feature an article about the recent driver education session held by Justin Fried. The next newsletter deadline is 4/10/07. The swap meet t-shirt will be pre-sold on the website up until 4/25/07. They can be picked up at the club tent during the swap meet. The tire raffle ticket price was unconfirmed at this time. Steve Baun will be giving that information to Don for publication.
Social: Al Peinhardt stated that Bill Rothermel, from the Artistry in Motion team, wants to discuss the parking arrangements for the event with Henry. Al also confirmed that he is supplying the sandwiches for the club tent at the Hershey Hillclimb. He also reminded that someone is needed to transport the tent to the event. Jerry Trone stated that the Pimlico plans are on track. He has had several verbal commitments of interest in attending the event, but no money has been collected yet. It will be publicized on the website.
Tech: Jon Yetter asked the members for input on what we would like to see as tech sessions. Jerry Trone repeated that Steve Limbert would offer another session at his shop. Rick Geiner expressed interest in holding a car detailing tech session. Curt Stauffer added that such an event could even be combined with the crab feast. John Witmer suggested that we consider inviting a local supplier, such as Stoner.
Safety: Deny Gilbert stated that the insurance vouchers are prepared for the swap meet and for the first autocross. In other correspondence, Don Hassenbein had asked about an insurance certificate for the 968 Celebration. Henry will apply for the insurance certificate because it is the region's responsibilty to provide this for the special interest group.
Autocross: Deny is ready for the first event. Steve Baun shared that we may use the lot until 4:00 PM. However, very emphatically, everything with the event must be gone no later than 4:00 PM. The majority of the trailer swapping/cleaning is completed. Sun Motor Cars, Autohaus, and AIC Auto Sales will be the autocross sponsors. Don Hollway will be getting the banner for the autocross trailer. The equipment for the events is at the Taggart s place. Rick Geiner will make arrangements with Barb to test the equipment before the first event. Deny stated that he would like to upgrade the quality of the trophies given at the autocrosses. Increasing the entrance fees was also discussed. Curt Stauffer made a motion to increase the allowance for purchasing trophies by 20%. The motion was seconded by Jon Yetter, and approved by the Board. A 906 piston and titanium rod from Gary Wigglesworth s garage will be made into a perpetual trophy that will be presented to the fastest CPA member s Porsche at the swap meet autocross. Don Hollway motioned that we allot $300 to clean up the parts and to mount them as the Gary Wigglesworth Memorial Trophy. The motion was seconded by John Witmer, and approved by the Board.
Driver Education: Justin Fried was absent and there was no report presented.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun reported that approximately 300 vendors have pre-registered. Members are asked to volunteer their service to the event. Another email blast will be prepared. Henry shared that he knows a supplier for stickers to label the vendor sites on the macadam. The whereabouts of the 40th anniversary banner was discussed, but its location is still unknown.
Vice President: Eric Wahlberg stated that the swap meet hats are finished and they will be delivered to Steve Baun at the same time as the t-shirts. Eric also announced that the 356 Registry East Coast Holiday would be based at the Eden Resort in Lancaster in September 2008. Volunteers will be solicited closer to the event.
Old business: Trailer renovation expenses had been approved, but not used, in the 2006 budget and needed approval for the current year. Eric Wahlberg motioned to allocate $300 for the trailer renovations. The motion was seconded by John Witmer and was approved by the Board. Artistry in Motion will be promoted through the website. CPA has space for fifty cars in the Porsche only parking area and just a couple members have reserved their spots.
