![]() ![]() April 1, 2008 Opening: President Eric Wahlberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All that attended shared a round of introductions. Eric shared that he had received information about the Baja Experience, an opportunity to drive a vehicle on the desert. Contact him if you need details. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present. Minutes: Copies of the March meeting minutes were available for perusal. Ken Taggart made a motion to accept the minutes from the March 4, 2008, meeting. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved. Treasurer: Barb Taggart shared a written statement of the financial activities for the month. We received the $786 membership refund, and receipts for the swap meet have been very good. Don Hollway made a motion to accept the treasurer's report. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved. Membership: Rick Geiner announced that our latest membership total is 376. Website/Newsletter: Don Hollway shared the proposed contents of the upcoming newsletter. Material for the April newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, April 8. Steve Limbert initiated a discussion about including a section for members to submit buy/sell classified notices. There is an area on the website for this activity, and it will be updated. Don will consider member input to the club publications at any time. Social: Bob and Joanie Purgason presented the proposed itinerary for the Virginia Getaway Tour, which has been tentatively planned for September 26-27, 2008. They shared brochures and distributed registration forms. More information will be included in the newsletter and on the website. Space will be limited. Al Peinhardt said that 39 people participated in the bus excursion to the NY Auto Show on Saturday, March 29. Everyone had an enjoyable day. Al provided several raffles during the ride. He also shared that the wine carafes and tire pressure gauges left from the holiday party will be offered for sale at the club tent during the swap meet. John Witmer has been working on the details for the 2008 Holiday Party. It may be necessary to increase the admission due to the expenses. John will be meeting with a few of the caterers shortly and there will be more information available then. John has hired the entertainer. Cars and Coffee, the informal monthly breakfast gatherings, will begin on April 12th. All are invited to show up on the second Saturday of every month. Details are in the newsletter and on the website. Jerry Trone stated that the annual Polo Cup event has been changed from July 20 to July 27. John Witmer spoke about his recent track/autocross experience near Richmond and mentioned a few other upcoming events. Contact John if you are interested in more details. Tech: Jon Yetter recapped highlights of the recent tech session at Sun Motor Cars. It was well attended. He is planning to hold another event July 26, at TransLog, where several interesting projects are in progress. Jon is also planning a session with Steve Limbert at Aircooled Racing, tentatively August 16, to focus on safe techniques of transporting cars and the use of trailers. Jon has been in contact with Dyson Racing, and is trying to set up that trip for late summer or early fall, after the racing season. Safety: Paul Hess attended the meeting and shared that all insurance issues are handled. Autocross: Deny Gilbert has everything ready for the first autocross on April 27. Driver Education: Max Crawford reminded all of the driver education info meeting on April 5. He also related that Vic Elford has a new book that can be purchased through Vic's website. A limited number of books will be available with his autograph. Swap Meet: Steve Baun has received more vendor pre-registrations than in previous years. He displayed this year's t-shirt. Rick Geiner sent an email in search of swap volunteers. Region Events Planning Manual: In progress. Calendar: Steve Limbert has Hershey Hillclimb flyers available to those who are interested. He shared that several driver and car requirements have changed. Steve will be the Course Marshall this year and can give you the details of the event. Steve also suggested that hosting guest speakers at meetings or at tent sessions during the swap meet may be of interest to our membership. New Business: Deny Gilbert requested funds to cover the expenses of the Millbach Concours. Barb Taggart made a motion to allocate $275 for trophies and food at this event. Jim Horstick seconded the motion. The board approved. Rick Geiner shared that Autohaus Lancaster is planning an event for their customers on May 2. He is working with Tom Wanner to involve CPA-PCA in the affair. Next Meeting: Tuesday May 2, 2008, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:00 PM for social, and meeting at 7:00 PM.
