Opening: President Eric Wahlberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All that attended shared a round of introductions. Eric shared that he had attended the recent Zone 2 meeting in Virginia, and summarized a few of the topics that were discussed. Eric also shared that CPA-PCA was recognized as the 2007 Partner of the Year by Celebration for Life at their annual banquet.
Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.
Minutes: The February minutes were available for examination in the current newsletter. Don Hollway made a motion to accept the minutes from the February 5, 2008, meeting. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart shared a written statement of the financial activities for the month. All is well in that area.
Membership: Rick Geiner announced that our latest membership total is 381.
Newsletter/Website: Don Hollway shared the proposed contents of the upcoming newsletter. Material for the April newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, March 11. Social: The Crab Feast will be held on August 31, which is Labor Day weekend. The previously stated date was in conflict with another event. The Virginia Getaway Tour has been tentatively planned for September 26-27, 2008. Jerry Trone made a motion to collect a $10 fee from the participants to cover the expenses incurred in preparing for this event. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved. Al Peinhardt said that 30 people have signed up for the bus excursion to the NY Auto Show on Saturday, March 29. The bus will depart from the Best Western on Eisenhower Blvd. Eric relayed that John Witmer has been working on the details for the 2008 Holiday Party. An itemized list of expenses was available for consideration. Ken Taggart made a motion to allow John to negotiate a plan with a caterer and the venue, at the cost of $60 per member, with up to an additional $30 being contributed for club members by CPA. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved.
Informal monthly gatherings for breakfast are being proposed. These have been successful in other regions for getting more members involved in the club.
Tech: Jon Yetter shared details of the upcoming tech session.
Safety: Paul Hess attended the meeting but had no new information to share.
Autocross: Deny Gilbert shared his new email address, which will be published in the newsletter and on the website. A few neighboring regions will be attending our autocross events because they have lost their venues. The Corvette Club has expressed an interest in renewing the competition between their members and ours.
Driver Education: Max Crawford gave an update driver ed events.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun gave a progress report on the swap meet preparations and stated that all is well. He has tentatively planned the swap party for May 17th , again at the Coliseum.
Region Events Planning Manual: No new information at this time.
Vice President: Dave Whitney is working with Steve Baun to get hats and shirts for the swap meet.
New Business: Deny Gilbert proposed the idea of getting a CPA-PCA license plate. Steve Limbert has Hershey Hillclimb flyers available to those who are interested.
Next Meeting: Tuesday April 8, 2008, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:00 PM for social, and meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend these meetings.
