Opening: President Henry McQueen called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All that attended shared a round of introductions.
Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.
Minutes: Barb Taggart made a motion to accept the minutes from the November 6, 2007, meeting. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion and the board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart shared a written statement of the financial activities. Budget statements were sent to all chairmen and Barb is waiting for their requirements for 2008. Steve Baun motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Deny Gilbert seconded the motion. The board approved.
Membership: Rick Geiner was unable to attend the meeting. He had previously shared the statistics with Henry and our current total is 397 members.
Newsletter/Website: Don Hollway was also unable to attend the meeting. He will be preparing an email blast to remind all of the holiday party. The swap meet website is almost ready. Material for the January newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, December 11. Social: Al Peinhardt encouraged all to get their reservations in for the holiday party. There will be Porsche related gifts, raffle prizes, food stations, a complimentary wine bar, and more.
Steve Limbert has tentatively reserved December 13 for the 2008 holiday party at the Antique Automobile Museum in Hershey. A $500 deposit is required to hold the date. Barb Taggart made a motion to increase the previously allocated amount for the deposit to $500. The motion was seconded by Deny Gilbert. The board approved.
Tech: Jon Yetter is planning to hold the next tech session in February or March 2008. He welcomes suggestions from all club members. Contact Jon if you have any ideas.
Safety: Paul Hess attended but had nothing new to share.
Autocross: Deny stated that the 2008 autocross dates are unavailable at this time. Ken Taggart will be contacting Joe Rausa to borrow the Gary Wigglesworth trophy for the holiday party so that all can see it.
Driver Education: Max Crawford will be assuming the duties of driver education chairman. He is tentatively planning to hold a meeting on April 5, 2008, to introduce driver education and autocross basics to anyone who may be interested. The location is likely to be Sun Motors. Dates for 2008 events are unavailable at this time. Steve Limbert suggested holding our own driving events at Summit Point. We have not previously organized such activities because participation from our members has been low.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun stated that many of the ads for this event have been placed. He will be visiting the new lot this weekend to begin preparing the layout for the 2008 event.
Region Events Planning Manual: John Witmer said that he has all but one of the guides. The guides will also include information about financial allocations for each event.
Member of the Year Nominations: Henry will announce the recipient at the party. The award is intended to commemorate the contributions and characteristics of George Heide. Those traits were used to determine the recipient.
Vice President: Eric Wahlberg shared that the 356 Registry will be holding a golf outing at the DuPont Country Club. He also suggested coordinating a Wash’n’Shine with the polo event.
Calendar: 2008 events to be added include the driver education meeting (April 5), the Hershey Hillclimb and Artistry in Motion (May 3-4). Old Business: Jerry proposed the idea of creating a family of the year award. John Witmer made a motion to adopt the award for the current year, and to make the presentation at the holiday party. Paul Hess seconded the motion. The board approved.
Linda Horstick shared the election results: President- Eric Wahlberg, Vice President- Dave Whitney, Treasurer- Barb Taggart, Secretary- Linda Horstick, Directors- Rick Geiner, Deny Gilbert, Steve Limbert, and Ken Taggart.
New Business: There was a discussion about the expenses for meetings. Barb will be discussing arrangements and billing details with Sue from the Liederkranz.
Next Meeting: Tuesday January 8, 2007, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 PM for social, and meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend these meetings. PLEASE NOTE that this is the SECOND Tuesday in January, due to New Year’s Day being the first Tuesday.
