Secretary Report for October 3, 2006

Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Steve Baun at 7:00 pm.
Barb motioned that the minutes of the September 5, 2006 meeting should be accepted and it was seconded by John Witmer. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that the treasury is still running behind last year but we still have a very favorable cash balance. A complete report may be obtained from Barb.
Safety: Denny Gilbert reported that he has the insurance for the October 15 autocross and the paperwork has been submitted for the October 28 tech session at Sun Motor Cars. Denny also mentioned that he now has email.
Membership: Rick Geiner reported that our membership has decreased to 394. He plans to call the thirteen non-renewals to remind them their membership has expired.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway will have the candidates for the upcoming election in the November issue. He also will put the election information on the web site. There was discussion regarding sending der Sprecher only via email. Don will have a notice in the November issue to let the membership know they can receive an email copy of der Sprecher rather than a hard copy if they wish. The deadline for articles and submissions is October 10.
Social: Al Peinhardt reported that everything is on track for the Holiday Party and he has some surprises lined up. An invitation to the Holiday Party will be sent to incoming PCA President Prescott Kelly. Also, Al mentioned that registration for the party is open and may be made on line.
Jerry Trone mentioned that he has moved Porsches at Pimlico next year to June 3, so as to not conflict with Artistry in Motion.
Tech: Jon Yetter reported that we will have a tech session October 28, featuring the Apple Motorsports GT3 Cup car at Sun Motor Cars. Apple Motorsports will also bring their team transporter rig. There will be hands-on and a question and answer session. Lunch will be provided.
Autocross: Mark Bolt did not have the most recent autocross results with him. He stated that the October 15 autocross will incorporate a long slalom, skid pad and a decreasing radius corner. Steve Baun will be instructing a driving school at the October 15 event. The students should start their runs around noon, after the autocross competitors have finished running.
Driver Ed: Steve Baun stated that the NNJ Region Driver Education event at Watkins Glen, September 24-26 ran great and they had 153 cars. There was discussion to have CDOC to an FAQ driverŐs education Tech Session at Sun Motor Cars next year.
Vice President: Henry McQueen reported that the election candidates and ballot will be in the November issue of de Sprecher. He also reported that he, Mark Bolt and Eric Wahlberg met with the Artistry In Motion organizers to discuss the May 6, 2007 event. This tour and car show will have Porsche as the featured marque and Autohaus Lancaster is the presenting sponsor. This event is open to cars built in 1974 and earlier. There will be space for about 25 Porsches on the tour and 15 Porsches in the show car exhibit. This year, for the first time, there will be a separate exhibit of Porsche race cars. Additionally, Central PA Region will have an area with the club tent set up and a corral for 50 additional Porsches. Tom Wannner from Autohaus was at the meeting and told everyone that there will be an Autohaus display with some significant cars plus PCNA is getting involved.
Mew Business: Steve Baun reported that Justin Fried will work with him in 2007 as DriverŐs Education Co-chairman.
Next meeting: November 7, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social (brats and beverages), meeting at 7:00pm. All members are welcome to attend.
