Opening: President Eric Wahlberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All that attended shared a round of introductions. Eric stated that he sent a card to the Wanner family to express our sympathy to them. Don Hollway will also prepare an article as a tribute to Herb Wanner, sharing some of the highlights of his life and his dedication to promoting Porsche in the States.

Eric said that he participated in a zone presidents’ teleconference recently, and that it was basically a review of procedural issues, especially for all of the new region presidents.

Eric presented Jim and Linda Horstick with the newly created Family of the Year Award for 2007. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present.


Minutes: Don Hollway commented that the meeting/social time listed in the minutes does not agree with the time posted elsewhere in the Sprecher. The correction will be made. Don made a motion to accept the minutes from the December 4, 2007, meeting. Barb Taggart seconded the motion, and the board approved.

Treasurer: Barb Taggart shared a written statement of the financial activities. Ken Taggart motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Jim Horstick seconded the motion. The board approved. Barb also reviewed the new ticket procedure we will be using for the buffet count at the Liederkranz.

Membership: Rick Geiner announced that our latest membership total is 393. The attendees discussed how we might retain members and what would encourage more participation in club functions. Rick suggested that we make more personal contact to welcome new members. Bill Conn noted that many other groups publicize their meetings and activities through newspaper events lists.

Newsletter/Website: Don Hollway will be soliciting comments about the holiday party. He also asked the members for their input in preparing the tribute for Herb Wanner. Material for the February newsletter should be forwarded to Don by Tuesday, January 15.

Social: Al Peinhardt reported that only about 50 people attended the holiday party, and only 23 of those were actually members. The ladies who attended were presented with a carafe etched with Porsche. The gents were given a tire pressure gauge with the Porsche emblem. These items will also be for sale. Mr. Ruben Ledesma, the PCA national treasurer, and his family attended the gala.

December 13 has been reserved for the 2008 holiday party at the Antique Automobile Museum in Hershey.

Tech:Jon Yetter is planning to hold the next tech session in March at Sun Motor Cars’ new body shop. He will be planning a few topics that pertain to general upgrade issues. He is still working with CBRD and the shop in Connecticut to plan an event. Bill Conn suggested that a noteworthy speaker would likely interest a group of members. He also extended an invitation to anyone interested in seeing his collection.

Jon stated that the web store is functioning well and that feedback he has received has been quite favorable.

Safety: aul Hess shared that he pulled the batteries from the radios for the winter. There was nothing else new in his department.

Autocross: Deny stated that the 2008 autocross dates have been established. More details are available on the website and in the newsletter. In addition to the Giant Center events, there will be two driving events planned at Sun Motor Cars. A new class for Auto X events has been established for Novice drivers.

Driver Education: Max Crawford has planned a meeting on April 5, to introduce driver education and autocross basics to anyone who may be interested. The location will be Sun Motor Cars. Aircooled Racing will be offering 20% off coupons for racing gear. Dates for 2008 track events are being established. Check the website for links to the latest driver education information.

Swap Meet: Steve Baun was absent. Eric contributed that the new area will be roomier than our previous swap site. There won’t be restrooms available so more portable toilets will be needed. More golf carts and/or scooters will also be needed.

Region Events Planning Manual: No new information at this time.

Vice President: Eric Wahlberg shared that the 356 Registry will be holding a golf outing at the DuPont Country Club. He also suggested coordinating a Wash’n’Shine with the polo event.

New Business: There was a discussion about the expenses for meetings. Barb will be discussing arrangements and billing details with Sue from the Liederkranz.

Next Meeting: Tuesday February 5, 2007, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:00 PM for social, and meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend these meetings.
