Secretary Report for January, 3 2006
Eric Wahlberg , Secretary
Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Steve Baun at 6:35 pm. The meeting began earlier than usual due to Penn State playing in the Orange Bowl later in the evening. Joe Rausa motioned and John Witmer seconded to approve the minutes from the December 6, 2005 Board meeting. The Board approved.
Treasurer: Barb Taggart furnished a 2005 Profit & Loss Statement and comparison with 2004. A consolidated 2005 Report will be in der Sprecher. Contact Barb if you would like a more detailed account.
Membership: Rick Geiner reported that we have a total of 408 members.
Newsletter Report/Website: Don Hollway reported that the 2006 calendar page with hot links is up on the web site. Also, there is a new page with Swap information and online registration which also includes a countdown clock. Autocross and Tech Session pages are also online. The deadline for articles and submissions is January 10.
Social: Jerry Trone reported on the Holiday Party and is writing an article for der Sprecher. He is looking for quotes for his story. The Social Committee will reserve The Media Heights Country Club for this years holiday party since everyone enjoyed the new venue.
Tech: Jon Yetter reported that he needs RSVPs for the visit to Don Meluzios car collection on February 11. A tech session on Safety Systems, Brakes and Suspensions is scheduled for March 18, at Sun Motor Cars with a snow date of March 25. CDOC will be there with safety items for sale at great discounts. Additionally, Jon is trying to have two GT3 RS cars on display. Denny Gilbert, Safety Chair will work with Jon on this event.
Autocross: Steve Baun presented the dates Herco has given CPA-PCA for autocrosses in the Hershey Park lot. The dates are: April 23, May 7, June 4, June 9 (Friday night event), September 24 and October 15. The May 7, date conflicts with Porsches at Pimlico and the Hershey Vintage Hillclimb. We usually have an event on Mothers Day, which will be May 14, this year. Steve will check to see if that is one of the three dates SCCA has. Perhaps we can swap the 7th for the 14th. Also, Mark Bolt mentioned that the club is looking for additional sponsors for the autocross series.
Swap Meet: Steve Baun reported that the marketing has begun and the surrounding PCA regions have been notified. He has already heard from most of the event sponsors. Eric Wahlberg has notified the 356 Registry email list that the Swap will have the 356 as the featured model and Steve mentioned about half the emails received for vendor space has been from 356 related vendors. In a week Steve hopes to have the contract from Herco for the 2007 Swap Meet. The Swap Committee will meet at 8:00 am on Sunday, January 15, at the Bob Evans at I-83 and the PA Turnpike.
Vice President: Henry McQueen reported that there are still some members who purchased extra wine and wine glasses at the Holiday Party who owe the club money. Henry is coordinating the CPA tent at the Hershey Vintage Hillclimb and will also have food at the tent for members.
New business: Steve Baun mentioned that it may take many more months to find out what CPA will net from the 2005 Porsche Parade. Barb Taggart brought up the issue that we should have an email blast system in place for club notifications. She will probably take over this duty from Henry McQueen. Bob Purgason mentioned that Niagra Region is having a weekend escape event in conjunction with the Zippo Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, September 8-10. This conflicts with the CPA Crab & Shrimp Feast on September 10, however members may wish to be at The Glen on Friday and Saturday and at our event on Sunday.
Next meeting: February 7, 2006 at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 pm for social, meeting at 7:00pm.
Meeting adjourned: aat 7:50pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Eric Wahlberg, Secretary
