January 2, 2007
Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Henry McQueen at 7:00 PM. No new members attended. Linda Horstick determined that a quorum was present. Minutes: Barb Taggart motioned that the minutes of the December 5, 2006, should be accepted and it was seconded by Don Hollway. The Board approved. Treasurer: Barb Taggart reported that our year end assets are $2400 lower than they were at the close of 2005. CPA-PCA made several large purchases this year including a trailer, fire extinguishers, and radios. A financial statement will be presented in the February newsletter. A motion to accept the report was made by John Witmer and seconded by Rick Geiner. The Board approved. Safety: Deny Gilbert reported that no insurance voucher will be necessary for the tech session at Steve Limbert’s Aircooled Racing on February 17. Membership: Rick Geiner reported that our membership is 394, with seven new members, one transfer out, two transfers in, and nineteen renewals. Henry McQueen stated that he should be receiving complimentary copies of Panorama to be used in the solicitation of new members. John Witmer requested a few copies to use with his clients. Newsletter/Website: Don Hollway reported that the upgraded website seems to be running well. In addition, he will be doing some improvements to the swap site, which is now live for pre-registrations. Contact Don by email if you encounter any problems at the sites. The deadline for articles and submissions to the newsletter is January 9. He is hoping to receive quotes from those that attended the holiday party. Social: Al Peinhardt suggested a round of introductions from those in attendance at the meeting, and it was done. He reported that seventy individuals attended the Holiday Party, including incoming PCA President Prescott Kelly. The 2007 Holiday Party is scheduled for December 15 at the Media Heights Country Club. Al suggested that we should consider securing a site for the swap workers party. He recommended the Liederkranz as a possibility, and will be checking for a tentative May, 2007, date. Artistry in Motion, a fundraiser for the Lancaster Museum, is May 6. Selected pre-1974 cars are included, and Porsches are featured this year. Register by March 9 for the show, tour, and two buffets for $95. After March 9, the package is $120. There will be a Porsche only parking area for approximately 50 cars. Henry McQueen and Eric Wahlberg will be developing a list to reserve spaces for those who are interested in attending the event. Information about the event is available at www.artistryinmotion.org/event/entryAdmission.php. Tech: Jon Yetter was absent. Steve Limbert shared that the event on February 17 at his shop should be quite interesting. His place is full of vintage race cars. The possibility of hosting a tech session with Race Minor on the topic of biodiesel energy was suggested. A few members asked if some of the tech sessions could be on Sundays rather than Saturdays due to work conflicts. Autocross: Deny Gilbert says the 2007 courses will be no brain test driving events. They will be fun and easy to follow without the assistance of a pigeon. He is planning a parade drive-through start. The dates can be found on the website, and pre-registration is now live. Other possible autocrosses include a night event and an event coordinated with the Corvette club. Driver Education: Justin Fried reported that the driver education session at The Gathering Place is planned for March 17 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. Breakfast and the seminar will be $15. More details are included in the newsletter. Justin also shared that scheduled driver education events are posted on the website, and that more details will also be available onsite. Swap Meet: Steve Baun was absent. Don Hollway reported that he is doing some finishing on the ads for the Panorama, and that they will be submitted before the February deadline for publication. Don Hassenbein, the PCA 968 Register Advocate, shared his plans for the 2007 968 Celebration. His activities will be offered Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, during swap weekend. He hopes to have about 100 968 owners in attendance. He has reserved space at the Holiday Inn for the group. Don requested that the 968 be our feature model this year at the swap meet. However, Steve Baun and John Witmer already had planned to feature the early 911 in 2007, and plan to feature models in order of their natural progression for future events. Vice President: Eric Wahlberg will represent CPA at the zone meeting on February 10 because Henry will be unable to go. Eric invited the other officers to attend. Old business: Mr. Scott Newkam, retiring as vice president of HERCO, was very pleased with the gift and card that he received from CPA for his service and support of our club activities. John Witmer investigated the issues involved in sponsoring a car raffle as a club. There are state and county gaming laws regarding such raffles, and teaming with Celebration of Life seems to be a feasible option. John and Jerry Trone will be exploring our participation further. Justin Fried suggested scaling back to a German driving experience instead of a car, but we would still be bound by the gaming laws. The 2007 budget was presented by Henry McQueen. John Witmer made a motion to approve the budget and it was seconded by Jerry Trone. The Board approved. New business: none Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 5, 2007, at the Lancaster Liederkranz, 6:30 PM for social, meeting at 7:00 PM. All members are welcome to attend. Meeting Adjourned: 8:37 PM Respectfully Submitted, Linda Horstick, Secretary |
